Back when our parents were getting married, it was a tradition to throw rice when the couple was walking up the aisle or leaving the wedding reception.  The reason why people threw rice was because it would mean the couple would be to bless the couple to have children. Today, rice is not the best thing to have mark your celebration since it is not environmentally friendly for our feathered friends.

Some ideas that we like for celebrating include:

– Birdseed

– Confetti

– Or better yet…biodegradable confetti! (search biodegradable confetti on Etsy)

– Rose petals or other mix of flower petals

– Bubbles (get these from your local Dollar Store)

There are also some creative ways to display your flower petals or confetti.  Ideas include using little holders or plastic tubes. For examples see below.
