Sunny Summer Avila Beach Wedding

Summer is a busy time in Avila Beach, as vacationers flock to the spot to enjoy the waves and the cool ocean breezes. But, luckily, we were able to find a stretch of sand to set up our chairs for this sunny summer Avila Beach wedding.

The couple enjoyed a private first look under the Avila Beach pier before they said I do. I really like the first look since it is a great opportunity for the couple to have some private time together before the wedding ceremony.

The chairs were tied with teal sashes and melon-colored bows as the guests gathered on the sand for this special wedding.   Before the bride made her entrance down the stairs to the beach, the groom’s sons, followed by the bride’s son and daughter descended the stairs, as Bless the Broken Road played softly in the background.   Then, the moment had arrived for the bride to make her entrance, escorted by her dad.   After giving her dad a kiss, she joined her groom.

The bride wore a cream-colored lace gown and carried a bouquet of mixed flowers, including melon-colored roses, pale peach spray roses, white carnations, stock, eucalyptus leaves, and wildflowers.   Her daughter, wearing a long melon-colored dress, carried a smaller version of her mom’s bouquet.   The groomsmen and the groom all wore white shirts and tan pants – and they were barefoot (so appropriate for a toes in the sand wedding).

Before the wedding, I was able to chat a bit with the groom, who seemed to not be at all nervous.   When I commented on his calm demeanor, he said that this was the day he had been looking forward to for a very long time.   The weather was perfect, he was surrounded by family and friends, and he was marrying his best friend.

To make the children feel part of the wedding, they stood next to the bride and groom during the  ceremony.   After the vows and the ring exchange, they were included in a shell ceremony in which they each held a shell and made a wish for their life together as a new family.   They were also included in a family blessing at the end of the ceremony.

And, finally, after the bride and groom were pronounced husband and wife, and after they shared a dance together, the children were invited to dance.   The groom danced with his bride’s daughter. The bride danced first with her son, and then with the groom’s two son.   As My Wish continued to play, the children danced with each other, and the guests joined in the dancing.

Family photos followed.   Then, with the permission of an Avila Beach lifeguard, the couple was able to climb the lifeguard tower for some unique shots.   So cute!

We at Coastal California Weddings, want to wish our sunny summer Avila Beach wedding couple the best in the years ahead.   Let us borrow from their marriage mission statement to wish them the best for their future:   “…to be teammates who remain in love, laugh, and build new dreams together.”
