Montano de Oro – An easy activity for your wedding guests

Are you looking for a nice, easy walking trail along the ocean?  Montano de Oro is one of my favorite spots.  Located on the end of Los Osos Valley Rd., in the small town of Los Osos, this State Park is on the cliffs of the Pacific Ocean and is full of a variety of different trails.  Trails either lead to some great beaches like Hazards and some mountain trails where you can get a panoramic view of the coast line.  My favorite trail is just past the Visitor’s Center. You will spot cars parked on the side of the road and a trail to the right. This trail takes you to Corallina Cove a great beach for exploring the tide pool.

During our walk in March the fields were filled with yellow mustard plants and California poppy’s.  As we made our way from the car, we hugged the coast and could see Morro Rock in the distance.  Once we got to  cove we were able to see crabs, sea urchins, and sea anemone’s.  You never know what the weather will be like in Montano de Oro so pack a sweatshirt, comfortable shoes, and some water.

If you are looking for a group activity for your wedding guests, organizing a hike is a great idea.  Maybe catch some breakfast in San Luis Obispo or lunch of fish and chips in Morro Bay after your hike.
